Our present
shop in Front Street Arnold is situated four miles north of Nottingham
City Centre. It was opened in 1939 by Alfred Chambers (the father
of David and Philip), and during the war was run by Alfred's
wife Marjorie and father James. In 1946, Alfred returned home and
took over the running of the shop, working there until his retirement
in 1990 at the age of 79.
The core business
of our shop has been pork products; beef sales were introduced in
1952 by Harold Grocock, a fine butcher and a hit with all the ladies!
Many awards have been gained over the last 30 years. The shop is
a founder member of the prestigious Guild of Q Butchers
- the only one in the Nottingham area. The Guild maintains very
high standards in quality.
All our beef
pork and lamb is sourced locally, the beef is matured for three
weeks ensuring optimum eating qualities. Our standards of cleaning
are maintained in daily cleaning schedules and our products are
made with care and attention to detail.
Our shop has
a welcoming, modern, open-fronted entrance and our staff are friendly.
One customer, an Inspector from EFSIS, remarked that the staff uniforms
were the best he had seen!.
As
Phil Chambers always says "Retail is detail!"
