LOCAL BUTCHER WINS NATIONAL AWARD - NOV 2011
AE Chambers, a local butcher based in Nottingham, has won several awards at the 2011 Smithfield Awards, a national product evaluation which is among the most coveted in the meat industry.
The prestigious awards are organised by the Q Guild of Butchers, which is the UK’s top independent butchers’ organisation.
The evaluation consists of eight categories, within each, products can win one of four awards- Diamond, Gold, Silver or Bronze. One of the Diamond award products is then selected as the overall winner of the evaluation. More than 400 products from Q Guild members across the UK were assessed in the product evaluation by an independent panel of judges, made up of both industry experts and lay judges.
AE Chambers won a Gold award for its Duck and Orange Pie in the Christmas Products category, and two Silver awards for its Salt Beef in the Cooked Meats category and its Moroccan Lamb Pie in the Pies and Bakery (Hot) category.
Julie Henshaw commented: “We’re thrilled that our products have been recognised in the Smithfield Awards, and we’re especially proud to have received a Gold award. As a Q Guild member, we regard ourselves as among Britain’s best butchers, and these awards prove that we have the products to match. Winning a Smithfield Award definitely adds value and prestige to our business as a whole.”
The awards ceremony took place on 8th November 2011 at Butchers Hall in London. Celebrity chef and TV presenter Ainsley Harriott attended and presented AE Chambers with their awards.
The Q Guild (www.qguild.co.uk) has 140 members across the UK, and serves £3 million worth of meat and related products to over a quarter of a million UK consumers every week.

Q Awards for Nottingham Butchers

Local butchers A E Chambers have won a number of top prizes for their products in the Q Guild’s 2010 Smithfield Awards.
The awards are among the most highly coveted in the meat industry and a true indication of excellence. More than 500 products from Q members throughout the UK were assessed by an independent panel of experts.
A E Chambers Butchers won three Gold, two Silver and five Bronze awards. The Gold Award winning products were their Beef Ham, Hot Dog Roll and Beef Stronganoff which was one of the few products to be awarded full marks in the competition.
At a special lunch and awards ceremony in Butchers Hall, London, (November 9), TV chef and restaurateur Heston Blumenthal presented the firm’s Philip Chambers with the awards.
He said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive these awards. It is fantastic for our business as the Smithfield Awards are envied throughout the trade, adding value and prestige to any product fortunate enough to win. As a Q member we regard ourselves as among the best butchers in Britain and this proves we have the products to match.”
The award winning products are all on sale at the shop at Front Street, Arnold, Nottingham.

Christmas Awards
A E Chambers Ltd are now taking orders for the festive period and this year they are delighted to announce that their 'Saint Nick's Roast' has been awarded the highest accolade in a competition organised by The Guild of Q Butchers to which they are members.
Not only did it win a diamond award for the Christmas product of the year, it also won best pork product of the year and overall Supreme Diamond Award, singled out of over 400 products from around the country.
